MINSK, 5 December (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia plan to sign a memorandum on deepening strategic cooperation in peaceful uses of nuclear energy. The decision is stipulated by Council of Ministers’ Decree No. 853 of 1 December 2023, which has been officially published on the national legal internet portal, BelTA has learned.

“The decree approves the draft memorandum between the Government of Belarus and the Government of the Russian Federation on deepening strategic cooperation in peaceful uses of nuclear energy and related high technologies as a basis for negotiations,” the document reads.

According to the document, the State Committee on Science and Technology has been authorized to negotiate the draft memorandum and, if necessary, make amendments to it, which are not of principal nature, and also to sign the memorandum after an agreement is reached within the approved draft.
