MINSK, 18 April (BelTA) – A visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to China is planned for May. This matter was discussed during a meeting between Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhang Dejiang in Minsk on 18 April, BelTA has learned.
During the visit of the Belarus president to China in 2016 the two countries signed a joint declaration on establishing relations of trustful comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation. “Now it is important to bolster economic relations to match this high level of cooperation. Therefore, we suggest discussing a number of economic issues. For us, this is particularly important in the run-up to the visit of the Belarus president to China in May 2017,” Andrei Kobyakov said.
The Belarus president is scheduled to take part in the One Belt, One Road international forum and to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. “We hope that during the upcoming visit we will be able to make advances in a number of practical areas of our cooperation with China. We hope to prepare the visit in the best way possible during your stay in Belarus,” Andrei Kobyakov said.
The head of government noted that during his visit to China he was impressed by the economic progress of the country.
Zhang Dejiang thanked Andrei Kobyakov for his contribution to the development of relations between the two countries, which is highly appreciated by the Chinese side.
