Belarus pledges commitment to its CSTO obligations

MINSK, 13 January (BelTA) – A special meeting of the Defense Ministers Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization was held on 13 January via video conference, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Defense Ministry .

The defense ministers of the CSTO member states voiced their opinions regarding the participation of the national military contingents in the peacekeeping operation and exchanged the views on the need to improve the existing mechanisms regulating the procedure for conducting such missions.

Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin stressed that the Belarusian side will remain committed to its CSTO obligations and expressed confidence that, thanks to joint efforts, the situation will be kept under control.

The defense ministers of the CSTO member states also approved of the documents on the pullout of military contingents of Kazakhstan.
