Belarus, Paraguay discuss bilateral cooperation

MINSK, 16 August (BelTA) - At the invitation of the government of Paraguay, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Brazil and concurrently to Paraguay Sergei Lukashevich took part in the celebrations on the occasion of the inauguration of Paraguayan President Santiago Peña Palacios and Vice President Pedro Lorenzo Alliana Rodriguez, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

In Paraguay Sergei Lukashevich will meet with the deputy minister of foreign affairs, the director general for bilateral policy, the director of the Department for Europe and the head of the Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay. The parties will discuss political, trade and economic cooperation, ways of intensifying work on the legal framework.

The Belarusian diplomat met with President of the Industrial Union of Paraguay Enrique Duarte Luraghi. Prospects of cooperation in supplying electric vehicles, agricultural machines, and attachments were discussed, the embassy said.

The Belarusian Industry Ministry and the Industrial Union of Paraguay signed a memorandum of intent during the meeting.

BelTA reported earlier that in May Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko congratulated Santiago Peña on winning the presidential election in Paraguay. “I am convinced that under your leadership, the country will strengthen its international authority and achieve significant results in defending national interests, ensuring the well-being and prosperity of the Paraguayan people,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted. “You can count on Belarus as a reliable and responsible partner interested in developing relations with Paraguay on the basis of mutual respect and understanding in order to protect the independence of our states and support a just world order.”
