MINSK, 7 December (BelTA) – Outgoing Ambassador of Belarus to Pakistan Andrei Ermolovich has paid a farewell courtesy call on Pakistani President Arif Alvi. During the meeting, the parties confirmed mutual interest in enhancing cooperation, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Pakistan.
Andrei Ermolovich and Arif Alvi discussed Belarus-Pakistan cooperation in politics, trade, economy, culture, and humanitarian affairs, including organization of important events on the bilateral agenda. Arif Alvi noted that in recent years the countries laid a solid basis for cooperation in all fields, expanded the legal framework, and created the necessary effective mechanisms for interdepartmental interaction.
“The parties focused on the need to continue strengthening relations in such important areas as manufacturing industry, agriculture, pharmaceutics, and vocational education,” the embassy noted.
BelTA reported earlier that in November Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko appointed Andrei Metelitsa Ambassador of Belarus to Pakistan. He previously served as the head of the main legal department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In January-October 2020, the trade between Belarus and Pakistan amounted to almost $42 million. Belarus’ export came at $28.2 million (104.9% year-on-year) and import equaled $13.5 million (102.1%).
