MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko met with outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Belarus Fionna Gibb, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Belarusian side thanked Ambassador Fiona Gibb for active work to expand the constructive bilateral cooperation. Topical issues of the Belarusian-British interaction were also discussed during the meeting.
Belarus attaches great importance to the develolment of bilateral cooperation with the UK. Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland were established on 27 January 1992. Belarus’ consulate general was opened in London in July 1993. It was reorganized into the embassy in June 1994. the British Embassy in Minsk has been in operation since 1993.
