MINSK, 5 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs develops cooperation with honorary consuls in a systemic manner, Belarus’ First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Evdochenko said during the first conference of honorary consuls of Belarus on 5 October. Today’s meeting is attended by Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov, BelTA has learned.
“We have already held meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the honorary consuls representing different regions. We have always worked non-stop with every honorary consul, our foreign institutions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Now we are holding the first meeting of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with all the honorary consuls, with the participation of the head of government,” Andrei Evdochenko said.
The first deputy minister stressed that all the honorary consuls have an indisputable authority in their countries and provide great assistance to Belarusian diplomatic representations abroad, ministries, agencies and industrial companies.
The meeting has gathered nearly 60 representatives from 45 countries (ten countries are represented by two or more honorary consuls). "This means we have used the successful experience of country cooperation and have been working, more closely, with the regions. We have covered all the continents and the regions of the planet without exception,” said the first deputy minister. Attending the meeting are also all deputy ministers of foreign affairs, heads of the structural subdivisions of the foreign ministry.
Today is the third day of the conference. The honorary consuls have already met with the minister of foreign affairs, the director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences, visited the ministries of economy, industry, agriculture and food, education, sports and tourism. The honorary consuls got familiar with the operation of the business matchmaking exchange at the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, visited BelAZ, attended the presentation of the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park Great Stone.
