MINSK, 20 October (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Italy with concurrent accreditation to Malta Alexander Guryanov has presented his credentials to Malta’s President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca. During the meeting the parties agreed on reciprocal steps to form the legal framework for bilateral cooperation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The parties discussed the practical issues of bilateral cooperation as well as the current international agenda, including Malta’s forthcoming presidency in the EU in 2017.
“The parties agreed on further reciprocal steps aimed to enlarge and organize a bilateral treaty basis, intensify official contacts and realize practical initiatives in trade, economic and investment fields,” said the ministry.
While in Malta, Ambassador Alexander Guryanov is also expected to hold meetings with the Speaker of Maltese Parliament, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and local businessmen.
