BAKU, 18 March (BelTA) - Belarus intends to expand inter-parliamentary dialogue with Azerbaijan, Tatyana Nichishchina, a member of the permanent commission for education, science, culture and social development at the Council of the Republic of the Belarusian National Assembly, said during the visit of the parliamentary delegation to Baku.
“Azerbaijan and Belarus have a lot in common. The inter-parliamentary dialogue is much needed today and we intend to develop it,” Tatyana Nichishchina said.
According to her, the purpose of the visit of the Belarusian MPs to Baku is to get familiar with the activities of the Azerbaijani Parliament, establish new contacts, and search for common ground for mutual cooperation in the economic, political and humanitarian areas.
“We have held meetings in the Parliament of Azerbaijan, the State Committee for Family, Women and Children. It was useful to exchange experiences. Belarus has been actively working on improving the regulatory and legal framework, taking into account the international trends, and we were happy to share this experience with Azerbaijani colleagues,” she noted.
The meetings also discussed the interaction between the parties in international organizations.
During the visit to Baku the Belarusian delegation visited the Heydar Aliyev Center, Baku Slavic University, the Belarusian culture center. The Belarusian MPs commended the center for the work they do to preserve the identity and promote the national culture of Belarus.
