MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) – Belarus is in favor of strengthening the role of the United Nations in today’s world, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva Yuri Ambrazevich said as he presented his credentials to Director General of the United Nations Office at Geneva Michael Moller on 22 September, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Michael Moller noted with appreciation the high level of cooperation with the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Belarus to the UN Office and expressed hope that the cooperation will continue to expand. “For his part, Yuri Ambrazevich emphasized that Belarus as one of the founding members of the United Nations appreciates the contribution of the Organization to the cause of peace, security, and sustainable development of countries and supports the strengthening of its role in today’s world,” the press service said.
Besides, the parties exchanged views on the activities of the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva emphasizing the importance of closer cooperation between the UN member states. Apart from that, Michael Moller and Yuri Ambrazevich discussed current issues relating to Belarus’ cooperation with the United Nations and the offices of the UNDP, the UNICEF and other international organizations in Belarus.
