Belarus, China to intensify work on joint projects

Belarus, China to intensify work on joint projects

MINSK, 31 October (BelTA) – Belarus and China have overcome the pandemic together and are stepping up efforts to implement joint projects, First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov said as he met with Secretary of the Xi’an Municipal Party Committee (China’s Shaanxi Province) Fang Hongwei, BelTA reports.

“It is noteworthy that the state visit of our president to China at the beginning of the year was followed by a series of high-level return visits from China. We have lived through a difficult period together, and now that the pandemic is over, we can meet in person. We can eventually visit each other, negotiate and implement projects together, fulfill the tasks set by our leaders. Welcome to Belarus!” said Nikolai Snopkov.

A reminder, during his state visit to China at the beginning of this year, Aleksandr Lukashenko held official talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese top officials. Aleksandr Lukashenko and Xi Jinping passed a joint statement on the further advancement of exemplary relations of all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership between Belarus and the People’s Republic of China in a new age. During the state visit of the Belarusian president, Belarus and China signed almost four dozen agreements and contracts worth $3.5 billion. The documents covered almost the entire spectrum of Belarus-China cooperation, including investment, agriculture, food supplies, healthcare, construction, manufacturing, science and technology, sports, tourism and mass media.

Nikolai Snopkov was in China on a working visit in July 2023. The visit was part of the efforts to implement the agreements reached by the leaders of Belarus and China during the state visit of Aleksandr Lukashenko to China. In particular, the first deputy prime minister visited Shaanxi Province. He noted that this province is a reliable friend of Mogilev Oblast (that has a twinning agreement with Shaanxi Province) and Belarus as a whole.
