Belarus’ CEC accredits 73 international observers for 2024 elections

MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – International observers from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly have discussed preparations for Belarus’ parliamentary and local elections with senior members of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus, the chairs of the election commissions of Minsk and Minsk Oblast, BelTA learned from the Central Election Commission.

CEC Chairman Igor Karpenko briefed the participants of the meeting on the course of the ongoing election campaign.

Answering questions from international observers, the chairman of the Central Election Commission noted that an important element of preparations for the upcoming elections is educating voters about the legal aspects of the electoral process. 

“The Central Election Commission of Belarus has prepared a lot of information materials related to the elections. An educational video was shot for members of precinct commissions, and training seminars were held for the elections organizers. Information brochures have been prepared for first-time voters. The Youth Council under the Central Election Commission of Belarus conducts active educational work among young people,” said Igor Karpenko.

According to the CEC, 4,439 national observers have been accredited by territorial and district election commissions in Belarus. In addition to that, the Central Election Commission has accredited 73 international observers.
