MINSK, 13 July (BelTA) – Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alena Kupchyna outlined Belarus’ approaches to strengthening the OSCE role at the informal high-level meeting in Helsinki, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Alena Kupchyna set out our country’s approaches to strengthening the role of the OSCE in addressing political, economic and humanitarian matters, ensuring security in Europe, and adopting the charter of the organization,” the ministry said.
The deputy minister held bilateral meetings with OSCE ODIHR Director Michael Georg Link, the Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Sweden. The parties discussed bilateral relations and the OSCE activity.
The meeting of the deputy ministers of foreign affairs of the OSCE member states took place on 10 July on the initiative of the Serbian chairmanship to mark the 40th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act.
The event included an official meeting to mark the anniversary and the informal high-level discussions to share opinions on the OSCE activity and further institutionalization of this international organization.
