Belarus admits 84,000 Ukrainian citizens since February 2022

MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – A total of 84,000 Ukrainian nationals arrived in Belarus from 24 February 2022 to 24 February 2023, BelTA learned from the State Border Committee of Belarus.

On 24 February 2022 Belarus began accepting foreigners coming from the Ukrainian territory. Those who needed it were provided with places for temporary accommodation. The Belarusian Red Cross Society in cooperation with the Emergencies Ministry deployed mobile warming stations near the villages of Gden, Poddobryanka and the Novaya Guta border crossing. Mobile pharmacies were set up nearby, with rescuers, medical workers and volunteers be available there round the clock.

Apart from Ukrainian nationals, Belarus admitted other foreigners in need of assistance. Given the circumstances, they were allowed from Ukrainian territory without the necessary documents to cross the border.

Currently, Ukrainian citizens continue to arrive in Belarus and are provided with comprehensive assistance.

As of 6.00 on 24 February Belarus admitted 84,020 Ukrainians: 15,890  arrived directly from the territory of Ukraine, 53,407 in transit through Poland, 11,936 arrived via Lithuania and 2,787 came via Latvia.
