Andreichenko: Belarus, Venezuela remain committed to peace-loving, unifying initiatives

MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) -  Belarus and Venezuela remain committed to peace-loving and unifying initiatives, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko said as he met with Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs Yvan Gil Pinto in Minsk on 16 October, BelTA has learned.

"Your country has developed the state program Plan for the Development of the Motherland until 2025. We know that the Republic of Belarus has a special role in this regard," Vladimir Andreichenko said. “The situation is very difficult today. We see more and more conflicts in the world; the situation in the Middle East has deteriorated. We need to unite. Today, we see how the United States and Western countries are actively interfering in the internal affairs of sovereign states, pursuing a policy of blackmail, coercion and sanctions. In this situation, it is very important to give traction to the Belarusian president’s initiative to launch a new international dialogue on security issues."

"I have carefully read your speech at the 78th UN General Assembly in September of this year. The Republic of Belarus has similar views on many of the things that you voiced at the General Assembly," Vladimir Andreichenko said.

"Our country also supported the initiative of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro to set up a Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter," the speaker added. "We remain committed to peace-loving and unifying initiatives. We believe that we need to make more active use of the potential of this group in the inter-parliamentary organizations such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Latin American Parliament, the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement. As for the mechanisms for implementing these tasks, I believe we have them today. We welcome the formation of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of the Republic of Belarus in the National Assembly of Venezuela. I think that in the very near future the friendship groups will hold online meetings and identify the program of our further actions."
