MINSK, 27 October (BelTA) - Belarus-Tajikistan relations are based on a solid foundation of friendship and cooperation, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko said during a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Tajikistan to Belarus Bakhtovar Safarzoda, BelTA has learned
"Please accept my congratulations on the appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Belarus. This is not the first time we have met. You are not a stranger to us. We know you as an MP, plenipotentiary representative of the Parliament of the Republic of Tajikistan in the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly," Vladimir Andreichenko said.
"Without a doubt, your appointment will contribute to the active development of Belarus-Tajikistan relations. A good foundation has been created for this. We maintain good relations of friendship and cooperation, with the leaders of our states being the pillars of these relations," the speaker said.
According to him, the MPs of the two countries cooperate very closely on a bilateral basis and in international parliamentary organizations. "I would like to thank the Tajikistan parliamentarians for the prompt ratification of the memorandum on Belarus' accession to the SCO," Vladimir Andreichenko stressed.
"In this difficult time, at a time of the West’s pressure, sanctions, blackmail, we must cooperate even more actively. Such a time today. The world is transiting to a multipolar system and we must support each other in international organizations. We should work more closely," the speaker added.
