Ambassador: Syria highly appreciates Belarus’ support in international arena

MINSK, 27 November (BelTA) Syria highly appreciates the support and solidarity of Belarus in the international arena, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Syria Mohammad al-Umrani said at the first-day-of-issue dedication ceremony for the stamp to mark 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Syrian Arab Republic in Minsk on 27 November, BelTA has learned.

"This is a significant event for bilateral relations. Diplomatic relations were established 30 years, but friendly relations go way much back," the diplomat said.

He lauded the interaction of the two countries in the international arena and cooperation in economy, science and technology.

On behalf of the Syrian government, the ambassador thanked the leadership of Belarus for the support to Syria, especially for humanitarian aid. According to him, Syria has recently received another humanitarian aid - baby food, milk formula.

"I would like to thank Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko for the initiative to host Syrian children on health recuperation holidays. All in all, about 1,500 Syrian children have holidayed in Belarus. We also highly appreciate the support and solidarity of Belarus in the international arena. I assure you that Syria stands in solidarity with and supports Belarus in its upholding of its sovereignty," the diplomat said.
