Number of agreements signed at Belarusian-European Investment Forum

LUXEMBOURG, 30 October (BelTA) – A number of agreements and memorandums were signed at the Belarusian-European Investment Forum, BelTA has learned.

“The Chinese-Belarusian industrial park Great Stone starts showing its strength. Today head of the park administration Alexander Yaroshenko has signed several documents with different companies on the implementation of a number of projects,” Belarus’ Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov told the media.

A new resident, Lanz Manufaktur, joined the Great Stone park. According to the signed agreement, there are plans to implement an investment project on the production of LED technology lamps in 2017-2020. The volume of investments will make up at least $500,000.

An agreement on the intention was signed on the implementation of an investment project between the park administration and Dieffenbacher (Germany). The project means the organization of innovative production of goods from composite materials with the appropriate engineering center. “This is a high-tech production. It is necessary to have a large scientific and technical basis to master it, and the German company has expressed its wish to implement the project in the park,” the prime minister said.

An agreement on intention was also signed with Duisburger Hafen AG (Germany). It is expected that in the future the company that owns the European largest river port - Duisburg, will become one of the founders of the Industrial Park Development Company.

Taking part in the forum were banking representatives. “A framework agreement with the European Investment Bank is taking effect. They will be implementing large infrastructure projects in Belarus, projects to support small and medium-sized businesses. They are ready to implement commercial projects that will be yielding results. It is evident that they have a serious attitude towards long-term coopration with Belarus,” the prime minister said.

In his words, special attention at the forum was attached to the IT sector. “Today everyone in Europe knows that IT is a business card of Belarus. It was said several times that this is a European “Silicon Valley”, at a time when we believe that it is just the beginning. A new document has been developed in the country, which will revitalize the development of the Hi-Tech Park, will significantly expand the areas of its development, conditions of its functioning, and modernize the regulatory framework, taking into account the latest digital technology achievements. We believe this to be a fast-growing area, and in terms of modern technologies Belarus finds itself close to the locomotive, not in the rear of the train,” stressed Andrei Kobyakov.

A memorandum was also signed between the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on cooperation in the investment project P80 motor road Sloboda–Papernya km 0.000 - km 14.770, and also other documents.
