MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – In 2016 Belarus made payments as part of state debt commitments in full. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the relevant statement as he met with representatives of the general public, Belarusian and foreign mass media on 3 February, BelTA has learned.
Alexander Lukashenko said: “I don’t know why you start talking about refinancing right away. If we need refinancing, we will think about it. But for now we intend to use our own resources this year to pay as much as we have to pay.”
“We made full state debt payments in 2016. I think the same will be done this year, too,” he remarked.
“But if we need to refinance, we will go ahead with refinancing,” added the head of state.
