MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) – A Huawei R&D center may open at the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus.
Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee Alexander Shumilin discussed with the representatives of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. the prospects of bilateral cooperation, including in the area of information and communication technologies, augmented reality and software development. “Belarus has always been strong in the IT sector. Over the previous year the export of software products for the world’s leading companies totaled almost $1 billion. In the near future the ICT development will get a new impetus with the adoption of a new legislation in the sector,” he said.
The two sides discussed the possibility of creating a Huawei R&D Center in the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park Great Stone and the progress in the project “Intelligent Transportation System of Minsk”.
Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. is a Chinese multinational networking and telecommunications equipment and services company. It is the world’s largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer. The corporation was founded in 1988. In 2016 it reported the revenue of $75 billion. Huawei opened a representative office in Belarus in 2003, and a subsidiary OOO Bel Highway Technologies in 2007. In Belarus Huawei is implementing a number of projects, including together with the Belarusian State Academy of Communications, Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics.
