MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is going to present a project to reconstruct Belarus’ M10 highway before potential investors in London, BelTA learned from EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti.
“We are actively working together with the Belarusian government on projects in transport infrastructure. Following my previous visit to Belarus in 2015 we were offered the M10 highway reconstruction project. It took us much time and effort to finalize it as a full-fledged project. We are going to present it before potential investors in London on 24 October. We are looking forward to seeing them in our headquarters and telling them about the investment opportunities in Belarus’ road infrastructure,” the EBRD president said.
Head of the EBRD representative office in Belarus Alexander Pivovarsky noted that the presentation’s date can be moved but the bank will hold it by the year-end.
According to Suma Chakrabarti, this project will be carried out in the full format of public-private partnership on the basis of a concession agreement. “We hope that all the procedures regarding this project, which would mark the start of its practical implementation, will be completed in the near future,” he added.
The Belarusian government and the EBRD signed an agreement to prepare the M10 infrastructure project for the implementation on the basis of public-private partnership at the session of the EBRD Board of Governors on 10 May 2016. The preparation of the feasibility study, the project data sheet, a draft public-private partnership agreement, and a draft confirmation document is at the final stage.
