YAROSLAVL, 16 August (BelTA) – Some concrete facts about the civilian aircraft Belarus intends to create may become available at the end of the year, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Dmitry Krutoi after the ambassador met with Governor of Russia’s Yaroslavl Oblast Mikhail Yevrayev on 16 August, BelTA has learned.

Dmitry Krutoi reminded that the governments of Belarus and Russia had already signed a large program of joint actions on developing the aircraft manufacturing industry. “For now two Belarusian enterprises will participate in it by manufacturing and supplying components to Russian projects. Those are mainly MC-21 and Sukhoi Superjet,” the ambassador said.

Speaking about the civilian aircraft that will be made in Belarus, the ambassador noted that design work on the aircraft had begun. “It is too early to talk about the model, the volume of funding, and even the carrying capacity of this aircraft. This development work, so to say, design work will be done by the end of the year. Then some concrete facts will become available,” the official said.

Dmitry Krutoi added that during negotiations with the Yaroslavl Oblast governor on 16 August Mikhail Yevrayev talked about the aviation industry enterprises that operate in the region. “Next time I will definitely have to visit them and see what opportunities for cooperation are available there,” the ambassador clarified.
