MINSK, 9 October (BelTA) - Belarus and Uzbekistan are implementing joint projects in pharmaceuticals and light industry, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Uzbekistan Leonid Marinich said in an interview with STV TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“We are implementing a business project together with Uzbekistan. It is a vertically integrated complex in Smorgon to produce cotton yarn and cotton yarn products. This is the first enterprise that will make a finished product in Belarus from raw materials supplied from Uzbekistan. Products will go to both our market and the markets of the neighboring countries, mainly Russia. As for pharmaceuticals, we are building an enterprise in Uzbekistan to produce probiotics. Uzbekistan does not produce such medications at all. Our cooperation means not only trade but also manufacturing,” Leonid Marinich stressed.
The countries have been actively developing trade. “Belarusian dairy products are in demand in Uzbekistan’s retail chains. There is also demand for Belarusian bread. Bread kvass is sold out very quickly. The Uzbek market is open for us,” the ambassador said.
“Uzbekistan supports Belarus at international platforms. In general, this year we have very good, impressive results in cooperation with Uzbekistan. We are striving for even greater growth,” Leonid Marinich said.
