Belarus plans to attract Chinese investment for development of 22 enterprises

MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – The terms and procedures for Chinese investors to acquire a share in Belarusian companies will be discussed during the visit of a Belarusian delegation to the People’s Republic of China that is running from 8 to 14 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Property Committee.

First Deputy Chairman of the State Property Committee Aleksei Vasilyev will attend a meeting of the commission for trade and economic cooperation of the Belarus-China intergovernmental committee on cooperation. He will present a report on the cooperation among the state-run companies of the two countries. Aleksei Vasilyev plans to review together with representatives of the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council of China the status of the work on the pilot list of Belarusian companies with preliminary conditions for Chinese investment in them.

The pilot list of Belarusian companies was drawn up in early 2017, and it was submitted to the Chinese side for consideration in February. The list features 22 Belarusian enterprises, including Horizont, Mogilevkhimvolokno, Gomselmash, BATE – the managing company of the holding company Automotive Components, and Minsk Tractor Works.

The press service of the Economy Ministry said that the Belarusian delegation will also take part in the 9th meeting of the working group on the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone. The parties plan to discuss prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in investment and finance, trade and production. Besides, they will consider matters related to the development of the China-Belarus industrial park with the help of Chinese projects of technical and economic assistance, ways to boost the investment attractiveness of the park and promote its investment projects.

The Belarusian delegation is led by Economy Minister Vladimir Zinovsky. It also includes Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Nikolai Snopkov, Head of the Administration of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone Alexander Yaroshenko, First Deputy Chairman of the State Standardization Committee Valentin Tataritsky, First Deputy Architecture and Construction Minister Alexander Kruchanov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov, Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Alexander Subbotin, Deputy Industry Minister Dmitry Korchik, and Deputy Economy Minister Pavel Utyupin.
