Belarus’ millet harvest at 15,700 tonnes

MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) – Belarus’ millet harvest has reached 15,700 tonnes so far, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 15 September, 7,163,600 tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, was cropped in the country. This included 6,173,400 tonnes of grain and leguminous crops and over 990,200 tonnes of rapeseed.

Harvesting of corn for grain is underway in Brest Oblast, Grodno Oblast, Minsk Oblast and Gomel Oblast, with 6,07 hectares of land already cleared. Some 43,300 tonnes of grain was threshed, with the yields averaging 71.5 centners per hectare.

In addition to that, 32,700 tonnes of buckwheat (yields are 15.1 centners per hectare) and 15,700 tonnes of millet (yields reach 19.5 centners per hectare) were threshed.

The flax straw harvest reached 96,100 tonnes.

Cereal and legume straws were harvested from 79.8% of the area.

Belarusian agricultural workers have harvested some 195,900 tonnes of potatoes. The yields average 357.3 centners per hectare.

Sugar beet harvesting is underway in Belarus. Some 496,000 tonnes of sugar beet were removed, with the yields reaching up to 447.1 centners per hectare.
