Belarus eager to sell more equipment, food to St. Petersburg

MINSK, 20 April (BelTA) – Belarus intends to increase shipments of equipment and food to St. Petersburg. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko made the statement as he met with St. Petersburg Governor Aleksandr Beglov, BelTA has learned.

According to Roman Golovchenko, Belarus is ready to participate in St. Petersburg’s large-scale lift equipment replacement program. “We know about St. Petersburg’s ambitious plans to replace about 7,000 lifts by late 2025. It is quite an intensive task. Mogilevliftmash together with its partner – the joint venture MLM Nevsky Lift – is ready to assist with it,” the prime minister pointed out.

Shipments of Belarusian machine tools, pharmaceutics are also promising avenues of cooperation.

Roman Golovchenko said: “Ensuring food security is our traditional avenue of cooperation that still remains topical. The 2nd Belarusian Food Forum took place in March 2023 with assistance of the St. Petersburg government. The volume of signed contracts is close to Br15 billion. It is a very good result. We are ready to ship more Belarusian food to the market of Russia’s northern capital and to other regions.”

Apart from that, transport and logistics were mentioned as important spheres of interaction.

In turn, St. Petersburg Governor Aleksandr Beglov thanked Roman Golovchenko for getting personally involved in matters of interaction in food trade. He also expressed readiness to step up cooperation in supplies of passenger vehicles and municipal vehicles.
